Lyana Cortes started her interest in journalism upon entering high school. In order to learn more about the subject she decided to take a journalism course which allowed her to apply for the newspaper staff upon completion. She made the cut and even became the news editor. Throughout her first year on staff, Lyana really found her own style and was able to incorporate it into her stories, photography, and page layouts. Sadly, the school wasn't taking much notice and the entire staff decided to come together and transform the newspaper into a magazine. Next year, Lyana will be the editor-in-chief of Pine Ridge High School's first ever Scratch Post magazine.
In the future, Lyana hopes to study journalism and international relations at Florida International University in order to one day work for a travel magazine. Her real desire is to be in the pursuit of knowledge and to spread it as far as possible. If she doesn't know anything about a foreign issue, trend, marvel, or custom, Lyana will most likely be very interested in researching and writing about it.
